GAS: New York's highest court has upheld the bans on natural gas drilling

Albany -- New York's highest court has upheld the bans on natural gas drilling passed by two small Upstate towns. It is a major decision for the future of hydrofracking in New York state, where the drilling process has been on hold for more than five years. The decision allows towns to forbid fracking and other forms of gas drilling within their borders. The state Department of Environmental Conservation is still deciding whether to allow hydrofracking in New York. See the full article and decision at:     http://www.syracuse.com/

HANNA Defeats Tea Party Primary candidate Tenney

U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna managed to hold off a Republican primary challenge from the right Tuesday, defeating Tea Party favorite Claudia Tenney in the 22nd Congressional District. With no Democrat on the ballot in November, the win assures Hanna of returning to Congress for a third term. Hanna defeated Tenney 53 percent (15,135) to 47 percent (13,503) in the district that covers eight counties to the north, east and south of Syracuse, according to unofficial election returns with 100 percent of the vote counted.

Brookfield REPUBLICANS - Primary Vote TUES - June 24 - VOTE!

Tuesday is an important primary vote for Brookfield REGISTERED REPUBLICANS !  Ed Hanna, the US Congressional Representative is being challenged by fellow Republican Claudia Tenney (R-New Hartford).  Since no Democrat is challenging incumbent Hanna, this primary vote will essentially decide who will represent the 21st Congressional District which includes Madison County.  Polls will be open tomorrow from Noon to 9 PM... only registered Republicans may vote in this Primary.  The Syracuse Post Standard does a good job comparing the candidates -- of the two, Tenney is considered more conservative, and Hanna a moderate.  Please vote.  The winner will represent us in the US House of Representatives in Washington for a two year term. Brookfield School BUDGET VOTE - Noon to 9PM JUNE 17 Tuesday

Please do not forget to vote on the BCS school budget ! This budget will require 60% voter approval. The BCS Administration has mislead public into thinking the school will close if this budget is not passed -- that BCS is educationally "insolvent"... it's not insolvent it is OBSOLETE !!! This Board and Administration does not plan ahead -- they simply look "behind" --- the way things "used to be"....well folks, it's the 21st century and these high schoolers (7th - 12th grade) deserve a 21st century education and to get out in the "world" !!! Pre-k to sixth grade could remain at the BCS building, but high school kids deserve an education...not "baby sitting"! Just take a look what Waterville, Mt. Markham, Hamilton & Unadilla Valley offer their 7th-12th grades... NOTE: We pay almost $500,000 (half a million !! ?) per YEAR for the debt service on the past capital projects! Wake up this Administration and vote NO!
