FROM THE OD:
A Brookfield man faces drug charges following an investigation in the village of Sherburne.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office reports Branden R. Ward, 23, was charged with felony third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, two counts of misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession, a violation.
The arrest stems from an investigation that began when correctional officers received information of alleged attempts to bring narcotics into the Chenango County Correctional Facility.
During the investigation, Ward allegedly sold narcotics to another person and was later found to be in possession of heroin, suboxone and marijuana, deputies report. Ward also was wanted by the New Hartford Police Department on a separate charge.
Ward was arraigned in the Village of Sherburne Court and held at the Chenango County jail on $10,000 cash bail.
He is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
