SWAMPSVILLE - SALKA?? IDA Director and Sweetheart Deal ? Salka?

SWAMPSVILLE --  MADISON COUNTY TAXPAYERS are paying a premium to the MADISON COUNTY IDA Director Kip HICKS .... to lease  a PORTION (1/4) of his FAMILY's building as a "TEMPORARY" court house space...to the tune of $1.3 Million (they only paid $425,000 for the ENTIRE BUILDING!)  ...what a deal......"how sweet it is!"  He gets to oversee all the renovations and the TAXPAYERS pick up any cost over runs.

DID THE COUNTY DISCLOSE THAT KENWOOD LLC WAS IN FACT THE HICKS FAMILY????? ...NO CONFLICT OF INTEREST?  Who are they kidding?

Maybe Supervisor Salka who sits on the IDA Board can give us some information on this great deal the County Supervisors gave the IDA Director and his family!!! ..check out the full article at the SYRACUSE POST STANDARD that just broke this morning!

Even before Hicks bought the building, he got help from Oneida city officials. He persuaded the Board of Assessment Review to slash the property assessment more than 85 percent, from $3.4 million to $425,000.

Kipp Hicks has been executive director of Madison County's industrial development agency since 2007. Now he is also the county's landlord......

Hicks and his family bought the property for only $425,000 after getting help from Oneida City officals to reduce the $3.4 million assessment to only $425,000!

Madison County taxpayers will pay Hicks roughly $500,000 over 19 months to lease one floor of a four-story building in Oneida that Hicks and his family bought two years ago for $400,000.

The no-bid lease was unanimously approved by the board of supervisors last month.

All told, taxpayers will spend about $1.3 million to lease the first floor of the building from September through March 2019. If the courthouse project takes longer, the lease can be extended month to month. [They paid $425,000 for the ENTIRE BUILDING!]

In addition to rent, Madison County will pay for an estimated $800,000 in renovations to outfit the Oneida Ltd. building with a courtroom, judges' chambers, hearing rooms and other court-related facilities.

Hicks will oversee the work, but must get authorization from the county before he proceeds. Any cost overruns would be paid by county taxpayers.

Madison County IDA director doubles as developer, and county is his major tenant
