At the bottom of this article, is a excerpt from Supervisor Salka's FACEBOOK page, publicly shaming felllow Town Board members for their lack of participation in solving the Highway Dept fiasco.
Supervisor Salka's criticisms of his fellow Town Board members are hypocritical given:
* "Supervisor" Salka fails to take leadership in bringing the Board together; he could have called an EMERGENCY meeting; Salka seems to forget that a quorum of Town Board members, who are meeting re: Town Business, requires a meeting notice;
* Salka & Mayne ARE THE HIGHWAY DEPT Committee...isn't that their job? and, if they did a "good" job.... this fiasco could have been prevented;
* Salka receives thousands as Town Supervisor plus health benefits vs. the tiny sum Town Board members receive; now THAT took some set to accuse them of not earning their keep!
* Salka & Mayne ARE THE HIGHWAY DEPT Committee...isn't that their job? and, if they did a "good" job.... this fiasco could have been prevented;
* Salka receives thousands as Town Supervisor plus health benefits vs. the tiny sum Town Board members receive; now THAT took some set to accuse them of not earning their keep!
* moreover, Supervisor Salka has been willing to handle other matters on his own especially when credit is to be taken -- but loves to include the Board when all hell breaks loose;
* this FACEBOOK posting made it apparent that he is the primary source of this continued discontent.
Basically, is this "FACEBOOK" announcement Salka & Mayne's "warmup" to putting Jeff in the position??!!? ... stay tuned.
TWO guys in a ROOM.. is THIS the kind of CHANGE we need in Albany???..... I think NOT!!!!

I just want to inform our community of Brookfield
that we are working hard to make sure that the town highway department will run
smoothly after the resignation of Bob Piersma. We regret Bob's leaving as he has
done much for our town and I am finding out how big
of a job it is. Jeff Mayne and myself have been in communication with each other
and we have spoken with the town crew to make sure things go well. Admit I am a
bit disappointed that no other board member has attempted to reach out to help
in a time of need. And you guys make how much?
